General surgery, advanced laparoscopy, reflux disease, foregut disease, endoscopy, bariatric surgery procedures to include the gastric bypass, vertical sleeve gastrectomy, and duodenal switch.

Bariatric Procedures Performed:

Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass and the Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy (Gastric Sleeve), performed both laparoscopically and robotically.

Credentials:

Board-certified in general surgery and holds active memberships with the American Osteopathic Association and the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons. She is fluent in both English and Spanish, which allows her to connect meaningfully with a diverse patient population.

Training Institutes:

Dr. Pelaez-Echevarria began her academic journey at the University of Florida in Gainesville, where she earned her undergraduate degree. She went on to receive her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Fort Lauderdale. She completed her residency in general and vascular surgery at Rowan University in Stratford, New Jersey, and continued with a fellowship in minimally invasive surgery at Baptist Health System/HealthSouth Doctors Hospital in Miami.

Currently, Dr. Pelaez-Echevarria serves the New Port Richey and Trinity areas as part of BayCare Medical Group and is affiliated with Morton Plant North Bay Hospital.
