Matthew Metz, MD
BARIATRIC SURGEON
Dr. Matthew Metz is a fellowship-trained bariatric surgeon and currently serves as the Medical Director at The Aurora Medical Center’s regional bariatric surgery program. Dr. Metz is known for introducing laparoscopic loop duodenal switch surgery to the Denver and the Rocky Mountain area. Dr. Metz currently sees patients at the Denver Center for Bariatric Surgery DTC location.

Surgical and Clinical Expertise:
Advanced laparoscopy, robotic surgery, minimally invasive surgery, bariatric surgery procedures to include the gastric bypass, vertical sleeve gastrectomy, duodenal switch and bariatric surgery revisions.
Bariatric Procedures Performed:
Laparoscopic roux-en-y gastric bypass,
vertical sleeve gastrectomy (gastric sleeve), loop and traditional duodenal switch procedures, single-incision laparoscopic procedures (SILS), adjustable gastric banding, advanced endoscopy and revisions and conversions of previous bariatric operations.
Credentials:
Certified as a Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence Surgeon by the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgeons and fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
Training Institutes:
Dr. Metz received his undergraduate degree from Colby College and his medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine. He completed a surgical residency at University of Rochester/Strong Memorial Hospital. He then went on to join the team of renowned surgeons at the Cleveland Clinic where he completed a bariatric surgery fellowship.
Work Experience:
Following completion of his fellowship program, Dr. Metz joined the Denver Center for Bariatric Surgery. He currently sees patients at the DTC office.
