Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass, Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy (Gastric Sleeve), and Revisions and conversions of previous bariatric procedures.

Credentials:

Dr. Small is a member of the American Society for Bariatric Surgery, the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons, the Southern Medical Association, the Southeastern Surgical Congress, and the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons. He is board-certified by the American Board of Surgery and recognized as a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

Training Institutes:

Dr. Small earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. He then completed his general surgery internship and residency at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center in South Carolina. His surgical education was further strengthened by his service in the United States Air Force, where he performed and taught surgical techniques.

Work Experience:

A veteran and educator, Dr. Small has combined clinical excellence with leadership throughout his career. In addition to his current roles at Morton Plant Hospital, he has served as a consultant and surgical instructor for Ethicon Endo-Surgery, training surgeons nationwide in advanced laparoscopic techniques. He practices at West Florida Weight Loss in Safety Harbor, FL, where he provides comprehensive weight loss and general surgery services to patients across the Tampa Bay area.
