Bariatric Procedures Performed:

Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass, Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy (Gastric Sleeve), and Revisions and conversions of previous bariatric procedures.

Credentials:

Dr. Gopal is a member of the Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons, American College of Surgeons, and American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. He also was the first bariatric surgeon to perform a robotic bariatric procedure in Corpus Christi, Texas and has been instrumental in developing the robotic bariatric surgery program at Bay Area Hospital.

Training Institutes:

Dr. Jegan Gopal graduated from UCLA with an undergraduate degree in Biochemistry. After working in the field of cancer research for several years, he decided to pursue a medical degree at Washington University in St. Louis, MO. Following graduation, Dr. Gopal completed his General Surgery residency at Penn State Hershey Medical Center at which time he focused primarily on minimally invasive surgery and endoscopic surgery. He then went on to complete a Fellowship in Minimally Invasive and Bariatric surgery at Duke University.

Work Experience:

Dr. Jegan Gopal has over 16 years of experience in the field of medicine. In 2016, following graduation from his Fellowship program, Dr. Gopal moved to Texas to join Better Weigh Center. Dr. Gopal currently practices in Corpus Christi, helping patients treat their obesity through medical and surgical weight loss options.

Outside of the Operating Room:

In my spare time, you will find me enjoying some biking trails, playing basketball, traveling, and drawing.
