Dr. Weiner earned his medical degree from the University of Michigan Medical School. He completed his General Surgery residency at New York University Hospital, where he received advanced training in laparoscopic and bariatric surgery.

Work Experience:

After completing his surgical residency, Dr. Weiner joined the faculty at Wayne State University, where he practiced bariatric and minimally invasive surgery for five years. He subsequently spent more than a decade in private practice in suburban Detroit, performing thousands of bariatric procedures while developing his nutrition-focused approach to obesity treatment. In 2019, he relocated to Tucson, Arizona, where he joined Tucson Bariatric before founding Pound of Cure Weight Loss, a comprehensive weight loss practice integrating bariatric surgery, obesity medicine, nutrition, and long-term patient support. Over the course of his career, Dr. Weiner has performed more than 4,000 bariatric surgeries and has become a nationally recognized educator in obesity treatment.

Outside of the Operating Room:

Outside of clinical practice, Dr. Weiner is an accomplished educator and author. He has written three books on bariatric surgery, nutrition, and weight loss, including A Pound of Cure, which has sold more than 10,000 copies. He regularly produces educational content through his YouTube channel, which has accumulated more than five million views, and co-hosts the Pound of Cure Weight Loss Podcast, where he discusses bariatric surgery, nutrition science, GLP-1 medications, and sustainable weight management. In his free time, Dr. Weiner enjoys playing tennis and spending time with his wife, two daughters, and their dog, Maizey.
