Board Certified by the American Board of Surgeons, active member and fellow of the American College of Surgeons, active member of American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS), active member of Society of Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES). Dr. Huguet has also received multiple recognitions including Tampa Magazine’s Top Doctors, Florida’s Top Docs, Compassionate Doctor, and Patient’s Choice.

Training Institutes:

Dr. Huguet earned his medical degree (University of South Florida College of Medicine, 2001), graduating at the top of his class and earning induction into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He then completed his general surgery residency at the Mayo Clinic in 2006, followed by a fellowship in minimally invasive surgery at Mayo Clinic in 2007. During his fellowship, he also served as Assistant Professor of Surgery due to his significant research contributions.

Work Experience:

Born and raised in St. Petersburg, Dr. Huguet now leads in the same community where he grew up. He has served as Chairman of the Department of General Surgery at St. Anthony’s Hospital—where he was also born—for over a decade. Currently practicing at the Minimally Invasive Institute of Surgery, he brings a compassionate, patient-focused approach to hundreds of procedures each year, deeply rooted in local service and excellence.
